President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday, using the platform's polling feature to ask followers to vote on two nomenclature changes: renaming U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to “NICE” and altering the spelling of his pejorative nickname for Democrats.
Trump Proposes Renaming ICE to ‘NICE’
Just before noon, Trump posted a poll asking whether ICE should be rebranded as “NICE,” an idea he has floated before. He argued the change would “totally discombobulate” what he called “Crooked, Dishonest, and Unpatriotic Reporters and Journalists” who he claims are hostile to ICE. “For them to say, ‘We went to a NICE Facility today,’ as opposed to ‘ICE’ or, ‘NICE Agents have deported a Violent Drug Dealer,’ they won’t be able to handle it, they will go totally crazy!” he wrote.
Trump noted the new acronym could be achieved by simply adding “National” to “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” However, he acknowledged that ICE officers themselves are less enthusiastic about the idea. “Everyone loves it, but I have been told by the legendary Tom Homan that the Agents do not love it as much as the other population,” he said.
Spelling Poll: ‘Dumocrat’ vs. ‘Dumbocrat’
About an hour earlier, Trump posted another poll asking whether his derogatory term for Democrats should be spelled “Dumocrat” or “Dumbocrat.” He argued that “in one case, you simply exchange the ‘e’ for ‘u,’ so simple and precise,” adding the dubious claim that “many people don’t know” the word “dumb” ends in a B. “In the other case, you spell out DUMB, but it seems to lose some of the identity to Democrats when done this way.”
Poll Results Show Strong Support for ‘NICE’ and ‘Dumocrat’
As of Saturday afternoon, with tens of thousands of votes cast, “NICE Agents” was winning 82% to 18%, while “Dumocrat” held a narrower but still substantial lead of 63% to 37%.
