Former British Columbia massage therapist Leonard Krekic has been convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault. The verdict was handed down on May 28, 2026, following a trial that detailed multiple incidents involving his clients.
Krekic, who practiced in White Rock, was arrested in 2023 after several women came forward with allegations. The court heard evidence that he sexually assaulted clients during massage sessions over a period of several years.
The RCMP released a photo of Krekic at the time of his arrest, urging other potential victims to come forward. The investigation began when one woman reported her assault to police, leading to additional complaints.
Court Proceedings
During the trial, prosecutors presented testimony from a dozen victims, each describing similar patterns of abuse. The defense argued that the encounters were consensual, but the jury rejected that claim.
Judge Sarah Thompson emphasized the breach of trust inherent in the therapist-client relationship. “Krekic exploited his position of power and the vulnerability of his patients,” she said during sentencing.
The conviction carries a potential sentence of several years in prison. A separate hearing will determine the exact penalty.
Impact on Victims
Several victims delivered impact statements, describing lasting psychological trauma. One woman told the court she had difficulty trusting medical professionals after the assault.
Support groups for survivors of sexual assault have praised the verdict, noting that it sends a message that such crimes will not be tolerated.
The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia revoked Krekic’s license shortly after his arrest. The college also reviewed its protocols to improve patient safety.
