Ottawa police have charged a 73-year-old man with offences related to child sexual abuse and exploitation materials following a search of a residence in the city's south end on June 4. The Ottawa Police Service's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed the search warrant, seizing a significant number of electronic devices from the home, the address of which has not been disclosed.
Arrest and Charges
Wilbert Reid Telfer was arrested after an initial examination of the seized devices. He faces charges of possessing and accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials. Telfer appeared in court on June 4, the same day as his arrest.
Ongoing Investigation
As of June 5, the investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to analyze the numerous devices confiscated during the search. Police have indicated that further charges may be forthcoming as the examination progresses.
