Durham Regional Police have charged a 30-year-old female staff member of an Oshawa group home with three counts of sexual offences involving a 13-year-old boy. The investigation began in February 2026, and authorities allege the suspect engaged the victim in a sexual relationship between September 2025 and January 2026.
Charges and Arrest
Shari Shoshana McCregor, of Clarington, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching. Police are concerned there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Suspect Sought in Stoney Creek Fire
Hamilton Police have released a new image of a suspect connected to a suspicious fire at a commercial property in Stoney Creek on June 3, 2026. The suspect is described as having dark, curly hair and was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeve top, dark pants, and light-coloured shoes, while carrying a case of beverages.

Road Rage Incident Leads to Charges
In a separate case, a 26-year-old Clarington man faces charges after allegedly pointing a firearm during a road rage altercation in Oshawa on Wednesday around 5:05 p.m. Police responded to an armed person call in the Ritson Rd. N.-Taunton Rd. E. area, where the suspect pointed what was later confirmed to be an imitation pistol at the victim and made threats before fleeing. Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect without incident. The victim did not suffer physical injuries.
Bhaviya Jiteshkumar Patel is charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, and weapons dangerous. Anyone with video footage or information is asked to contact police at 1-888-579-1520, Ext. 1701, or Crime Stoppers.
Teens Accused of Counterfeit Currency Scheme
Hamilton Police have charged two boys, aged 14 and 15, with multiple counts after investigating a series of frauds involving counterfeit Canadian currency used in Facebook Marketplace transactions. Investigators began examining reports in December 2025 from victims who sold items through the platform and were paid with fake bank notes. The suspects allegedly used fictitious Facebook accounts to arrange meetings with sellers in Hamilton’s west end, providing counterfeit currency in exchange for merchandise.
Police believe more than 10 incidents are linked to the same suspects, with victims receiving over $20,000 in counterfeit money. The boys face three counts each of fraud under $5,000, uttering counterfeit money, possession of counterfeit money, and possession of property obtained by crime.
