Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen at Whitby Store

A 25-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation after allegedly attacking a teenage employee at a frozen dessert store in Whitby, Ontario.

Durham Regional Police say the incident occurred on May 28 at a business in the area of Dundas Street and Brock Street. The victim, a 16-year-old girl who worked at the store, was reportedly assaulted by a male suspect.

Following an investigation, police arrested Ahmed Ashraf of Whitby on June 2. He faces charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person under 18. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The teen victim is receiving support from victim services.

Police remind the public that the identity of the victim is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The allegations have not been proven in court.
