Prince Albert police have arrested 10 individuals following an extensive month-long drug investigation, authorities announced Wednesday. The operation, which targeted drug trafficking networks in the region, led to the seizure of significant quantities of fentanyl and other illicit substances.
Operation Details
According to police, the investigation involved multiple agencies and included surveillance, controlled purchases, and search warrants executed at several locations across Prince Albert. The arrests were made on May 27, with suspects facing charges including trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Seized Substances
Police seized approximately 200 grams of fentanyl, along with cocaine, methamphetamine, and prescription pills. The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to be over $50,000. Additionally, officers recovered cash and weapons during the raids.
Community Impact
Police Chief Jonathan Bergen stated that the operation was crucial in disrupting the flow of dangerous drugs into the community. 'Fentanyl remains a significant threat to public safety, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable,' he said. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are possible.
The arrested individuals are scheduled to appear in provincial court later this week. Police are urging anyone with information about drug activity to come forward.
