Head-On Crash Near Slave Lake Kills Two: RCMP

A 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman are dead following a head-on collision south of Slave Lake on Sunday afternoon, according to Alberta RCMP.

Details of the Incident

At approximately 3 p.m., officers from Slave Lake responded to a fatal crash on Highway 2, just south of the town. Upon arrival, they discovered the two victims, both residents of Slave Lake, deceased at the scene.

The collision occurred when a vehicle crossed the double center line into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle. The highway was closed for up to six hours on Sunday as investigators worked the scene.

Injuries and Investigation

A man and a woman in the other vehicle were transported to hospital with minor injuries. RCMP Cpl. Mathew Howell stated that speed was not a contributing factor, but charges may be laid pending the results of a collision analyst's report.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact local RCMP.
