Detroit Auto Show 2026: Electric Thrills, Off-Road Tracks & Luxury Rides Await
Detroit Auto Show Opens Jan. 17 with EVs, Test Drives & Tech

The automotive heart of North America is set to beat loudly once again as the Detroit Auto Show opens its doors to the public this weekend. This major event, running from Saturday, January 17, through Sunday, January 25, 2026, promises an adrenaline-fueled showcase of the latest vehicles, groundbreaking technology, and hands-on experiences for enthusiasts of all ages.

High-Octane Experiences and Indoor Test Tracks

While a more focused version of its former self, the show at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit remains packed with excitement. Visitors can expect to see high-tech electric vehicles, new models from global brands, stunning classic and concept cars, and the unique chance to test drive vehicles on elaborate indoor tracks. "The earlier you get here, the better, because the lines get long," advised Jeep track manager Sergio Armenta. "But it's fun. You'll hear a lot of screaming, a lot of laughs."

The show operates daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with closing time moving to 7 p.m. on the final day, January 25. A key highlight is the return of Camp Jeep, an intense closed-circuit off-road track. Here, professional drivers take passengers on a rugged two-and-a-half-minute journey that includes a breathtaking 30-foot ascent on a 40-degree incline and a nerve-wracking 30-degree sideways tilt. A new, intimidatingly steep crevasse inspired by Moab, Utah, terrain has been added this year.

Not to be outdone, Ford's Adventure Track demonstrates the capabilities of its doorless Bronco with a similar 30-foot hill climb and a dramatic truck-sized teeter-totter.

Electrification, Simulation, and Automotive Elegance

Electrification takes center stage with the indoor EV Experience, now in its third year. This exhibit showcases the latest electric models from Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo, complete with a serpentine track and a 300-foot acceleration lane for thrilling rides with a professional driver.

For virtual speed demons, a new Gran Turismo 7 racetrack simulator, sponsored by Corvette and PlayStation 5, offers a chance to test Formula 1 skills. Meanwhile, elegance is on full display in The Gallery, featuring 50 high-end luxury and exotic cars from marques like Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, and McLaren. A standout is a sky-blue Morgan Plus Four adorned with shimmering silver and gold rims.

Family Fun and Future Careers

The show isn't just for hardcore gearheads. The Visit Detroit Interactive Experience, located in the Huntington Place atrium, provides family-friendly activities. It's designed to spark interest in automotive careers among younger visitors with hands-on, educational exhibits.

For Canadian auto fans, especially those in nearby Windsor, the show across the river represents the pinnacle of automotive innovation and spectacle, blending classic car culture with a bold, electrified future.
