Conducted by Scrap Car Comparison, a U.K.-based website that provides free scrap and salvage quotes, the study analyzed Google reviews of car-repair businesses across 155 cities worldwide. Researchers examined review content to identify positive and negative trust signals, such as mentions of honest pricing or reliable service, and calculated a trustworthiness score out of 100 for each city.
Globally, Quito, Ecuador, topped the list with a score of 81, while North America had the lowest average score at 33.4, indicating regional challenges in perceived mechanic trustworthiness.
Canadian Cities Shine in North American Rankings
In North America, six Canadian cities secured spots in the top 10 for most trustworthy mechanics, showcasing a strong regional performance. The rankings are as follows:
- Quebec City ranked third with a score of 50.0, behind Mexico City and Miami.
- Winnipeg followed in fourth place with a score of 46.7.
- Ottawa took fifth with a score of 46.4.
- Toronto placed sixth with a score of 44.7.
- Calgary came in seventh with a score of 40.8.
