In a candid and forward-thinking conversation, actor and podcast host Dax Shepard has revealed he is already planning to support his young daughter's future dreams of motherhood. During the January 5 episode of his popular Armchair Expert podcast, Shepard detailed a discussion with his 11-year-old daughter, Delta, about her desire to one day have children.
A Supportive Offer for Future Family Planning
Shepard recounted how Delta expressed her wish to become a mother. When she asked for his suggestion on timing, Shepard guessed she might want to have a child between the ages of 35 and 45. To alleviate future pressure, he made a concrete offer of support. "I said, 'If you want to, we'll freeze your eggs when you're 18. I'll pay for you to get your eggs frozen so you don't have to think about that,'" Shepard explained on the podcast.
The actor, who shares Delta and her 12-year-old sister Lincoln with wife Kristen Bell, emphasized his desire to be non-judgmental. "I want to be supportive of whatever," he said. He also acknowledged the privilege that comes with having the financial means to offer such an option, noting that Delta would still likely face the common challenge of balancing career and personal life.
Past Parenting Revelations and Open Dialogues
This is not the first time Shepard has broached mature topics with his daughters. In a 2025 episode of his podcast, he recalled Delta discussing the themes of pregnancy in Sabrina Carpenter's song "Juno." When Shepard playfully called the subject "a little nasty," Delta responded by asking, "What's nasty about wanting to have a baby with somebody?"
Both Shepard and Bell have been open about their unconventional parenting anecdotes. In 2023, Bell revealed that one of their daughters had ordered non-alcoholic beers at restaurants, linking it to memories of Shepard, who is in recovery from alcohol addiction, holding her as a baby while drinking such beverages.
As for Delta's current timeline? Despite her father's suggestion of a later age, Shepard noted that his daughter is currently "thinking mid-20s" for when she'd like to become a mom. The full conversation can be heard around the 1:10:20 mark of the January 5 Armchair Expert episode.
