Mounties in Alberta have located the stolen peacocks that were taken along with a truck in Stony Plain, but the vehicle remains missing. The theft occurred on April 26, 2026, when the truck, containing several peacocks, was stolen from a property in the community west of Edmonton.
Recovery of the Birds
On Wednesday, RCMP confirmed that the peacocks were found safe and are now in the care of their owner. The birds were discovered in a rural area near Stony Plain, but police have not disclosed further details about the recovery operation. The truck, described as a white Ford F-350, has not yet been located.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the theft. No arrests have been made, and police are asking anyone with information about the truck's whereabouts to come forward. The stolen vehicle is believed to have Alberta license plates.
The owner of the peacocks expressed relief at the return of the birds, which are valued for their distinctive plumage and are often kept as ornamental animals. The incident has drawn attention to the unusual nature of livestock theft in the region.
