Five men from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) accused of kidnapping and attempted murder at an abandoned gas station in Orillia are appearing headed for trial, according to court documents. The charges stem from a violent incident that occurred at a derelict fuel station on the outskirts of the city.
Details of the Incident
Police allege that the suspects kidnapped a victim and brought them to the abandoned gas station, where they attempted to kill them. The victim suffered serious injuries but survived. The accused, all from the GTA, were arrested following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Orillia detachment.
Legal Proceedings
The five men appeared in a Barrie court on June 24, 2026, where their cases were adjourned for trial. They face charges including kidnapping, attempted murder, and aggravated assault. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
“This was a targeted attack,” said OPP Detective Constable Mark Johnson in a statement. “The victim was known to the suspects, and we believe this was not a random act of violence.”
