Calgary man charged in teen's overdose death

A 40-year-old Calgary man has been charged in connection with the overdose death of a 16-year-old girl, according to Calgary police.

Charges laid in teen's death

Police say the man was arrested and charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death, and trafficking a controlled substance. The charges stem from an incident on June 10, 2026, when officers responded to a medical call in the city's northeast and found the girl unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy determined the cause of death was a toxic combination of fentanyl and other drugs. Investigators allege the man supplied the drugs to the victim.
