Police dog Timber tracks break-in suspect in Windsor

Windsor police arrested a 32-year-old man following a commercial break-and-enter early on June 22, 2025, with the assistance of police dog Timber. The suspect was tracked down hiding in a room inside a building under construction in the 1500 block of Wyandotte Street East.

Break-in detected by surveillance

Officers responded just after 4:30 a.m. to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at the construction site. Live surveillance cameras, monitored by a person who alerted police, captured two men entering the property and removing drywall and other items.

Police established a perimeter around the building. K9 unit dog Timber then tracked one of the suspects, who was found hiding in a room inside the structure. According to police, the man was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Evidence and charges

A pry bar, screwdrivers, a flashlight, and two backpacks containing tools were recovered at the scene. The 32-year-old suspect faces charges including break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and locate the second suspect.
