Trial Begins for Two Men Accused in $200K Regina Jewelry Store Robbery
Trial Opens for Two Men in $200K Regina Jewelry Heist

The trial of two men charged in connection with a brazen jewelry store robbery in Regina opened Monday, with the court hearing testimony from an assistant manager who witnessed the theft.

Robbery Details Emerge in Court

On August 8, 2025, two hooded and masked individuals rushed into Ben Moss Jewellers at Northgate Mall, shattered glass display cabinets, and grabbed merchandise before fleeing. Police valued the stolen items at upwards of $200,000.

MacKenzie Golly, assistant manager of the store, testified that she heard the sound of smashing glass followed by swearing—her own angry outburst as the theft unfolded. Security camera footage of the incident was shown in court.

Accused Identified in Court

Rylan Macphee, 18 at the time of the robbery and from Edmonton, faces charges of robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence. Waylon Tourangeau, 40 at the time and with no fixed address, faces the same charges plus additional offences. A woman was also charged but is not currently on trial.

Golly identified both accused men in court, stating they had visited the store a few hours before the robbery. She said she dealt with Tourangeau and a female companion, who showed little interest in the merchandise. Her manager interacted with Macphee. Golly recalled Tourangeau commenting, “Oh no, lab grown diamonds aren’t worth anything.”

Surveillance Footage Presented

Prosecutors spent much of Monday morning playing surveillance footage collected by police. The clips showed the individuals identified by Golly inside and outside the mall, as well as at a nearby McDonald’s on Albert Street. They were seen entering and exiting a black SUV. Another clip from the east side of Northgate Mall showed the black SUV parked near the entrance, with hooded, masked individuals getting out and later returning to the vehicle before speeding away.

No witness has yet identified the masked thieves as the accused men. Defence lawyers questioned Golly’s characterization of the suspects’ interest in merchandise and her memory of the date.
