Windsor man arrested after unprovoked baseball bat assault

Windsor police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with what they describe as a “seemingly unprovoked” attack involving a baseball bat. The incident occurred on July 2, 2025, in the 6300 block of Riverside Drive East.

Contractor attacked while working

According to police, officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence shortly before 5 p.m. Investigators learned that a contractor working outside the home was approached by an unknown man “wearing only underwear and carrying a baseball bat.” The suspect then attacked the victim, striking him approximately 12 times, including four blows to the head. Police believe the assault was random and unprovoked.

Victim flees, suspect causes damage

The victim managed to flee into the residence and lock the door. The suspect followed and smashed the front sidelight and front door windows, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage, before leaving the area. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Arrest and charges

Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect at a nearby residence. The 25-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
