Edmonton Man Faces New Charges in Dating App Sexual Assault Case

Edmonton police have laid 10 additional charges against a 56-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting women he met through dating apps, as five more victims have come forward in the ongoing investigation. The case now involves nine women.

Expanding Investigation

Police believe there may be further victims, with incidents dating back to 2021. The suspect, William McMullin, was initially arrested on March 17 after a woman reported being sexually assaulted in April 2025. She had communicated with McMullin through dating platforms such as Tinder, Bumble, and Facebook Dating before being invited to his home, where investigators allege she was drugged and assaulted.

McMullin originally faced charges including sexual assault, administering a stupefying substance, assault with a weapon, voyeurism, assault, mischief under $5,000, intimidation, unlawful confinement, and criminal harassment. The new charges mirror these offences, reflecting the additional complaints.

Police Appeal for More Victims

Staff Sgt. Brian McGuigan of the EPS sexual assault section urged other potential victims to come forward, stating, “We know that coming forward can take immense courage, and for many people, it may take time. If you believe you were harmed, you are not alone. Our investigators are committed to approaching every report with compassion, dignity and care, and we encourage anyone with information, no matter how long ago the incident occurred, to reach out.”

McMullin remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 22. Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact them.
