Miles Taylor, the former Homeland Security official who authored the anonymous insider op-ed criticizing Donald Trump during his presidency, has leveled a serious allegation against CNN commentator Scott Jennings. Taylor claims that Jennings, known for his staunch support of Trump on television, adopts a markedly different stance when the cameras are not rolling.
On-Air Clash Leads to Public Accusation
The controversy erupted after Taylor and Jennings engaged in a heated debate on CNN's "NewsNight" program regarding Trump's policies toward Iran. Following the broadcast, Taylor took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to voice his concerns. In a post dated March 24, 2026, he wrote: "You know who's a perfect metaphor for the GOP? Scott Jennings. A pundit who mocks Trump with us during commercial breaks—but fawns over Trump when the camera is rolling. Brave enough to speak out... in the green room."
Defense and Disagreement from Media and Political Circles
Taylor's assertion quickly drew responses from other prominent figures. New York Post correspondent Lydia Moynihan countered the claim, defending Jennings' integrity. She posted on X: "I have been on CNN many times with Scott Jennings. He is a man of his convictions and his political beliefs are completely sincere, genuine, and deeply rooted in what he believes is best for America."
However, former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois sided with Taylor, expressing skepticism about Jennings' consistency. Kinzinger replied on March 25, 2026: "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING??!! I've been on CNN too and while I won't reveal behind-the-scenes details, I'll just say I disagree." This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions within political commentary and the scrutiny faced by media personalities.
Jennings' History with Trump and Current Silence
Scott Jennings, a frequent commentator on CNN, has a documented history of public support for Donald Trump. Notably, he appeared alongside Trump at a rally in Warren, Michigan, in April 2025, reinforcing his on-air persona as a Trump loyalist. Despite the allegations, Jennings has not issued a public response to Taylor's comments, leaving the matter unresolved and fueling further speculation.
This incident underscores the broader dynamics in political media, where the line between private opinions and public statements often blurs. As debates over authenticity and partisanship continue, figures like Taylor, Moynihan, and Kinzinger contribute to a complex narrative about trust and transparency in journalism.
