The Regina Police Service (RPS) is investigating a series of violent incidents that left four people with lacerations over a span of four days. Two of the incidents also involved the use of bear spray, according to authorities.
First Incident: May 1
Shortly before 5 a.m. on May 1, officers responded to a call on Scarth Street near Victoria Park. Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim lying on the ground with a deep laceration to his hand and signs of bear spray exposure. The victim reported being attacked by male teenagers and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Second Incident: May 1
Later the same day, at approximately 5:20 a.m., police were called to the hospital after a man arrived with a laceration to his hand. The victim stated that he and his friends were in Victoria Park when an adult male suspect armed with a machete approached them. The suspect swung the machete, striking the victim's hand. The victim was taken to the hospital by his friends. As of Monday, police have not determined whether the two incidents are connected.
Third Incident: May 2
On May 2, around 3 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of 5th Avenue and Athol Street in the city's North Central neighborhood. There, they discovered an adult male victim with several large lacerations to his upper body. He was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Fourth Incident: May 4
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on May 4, officers responded to a weapons offense in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street. They found an adult male victim sitting on steps, who had been bear sprayed and suffered a laceration to his head. He was also taken to the hospital.
