Hamilton Police Seek Arson Suspect; Man Charged in Carjacking

Hamilton Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect connected to a suspicious fire that occurred at a commercial property in lower Stoney Creek on June 3. The suspect is described as having dark, curly hair and was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeve top, dark pants, and light-coloured shoes. He was also carrying a case of beverages.

Man Charged, Two Suspects Sought in Markham Carjacking

York Regional Police have charged a 22-year-old man and are searching for two additional suspects following a carjacking that took place in Markham on March 3, 2026. At approximately 11:43 p.m., police responded to reports of a carjacking in the area of Warden Avenue and Highway 407. The victim, who was stopped at an intersection, was struck from behind by a white sedan believed to be the suspects' vehicle.

When the victim exited his car to inspect the damage, he was assaulted by two suspects who then fled in his vehicle. A third suspect fled in the sedan. The victim sustained minor injuries. The following day, the stolen vehicle was recovered in the area of Matheson Boulevard East and Orbitor Drive in Mississauga.

Maheed Rahmati, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was already in custody for unrelated offences at the time of the charges. The two outstanding suspects were seen wearing dark face coverings and dark clothing.

Pedestrian Injured After Bowmanville Crash

Durham Regional Police report that a pedestrian suffered serious injuries following a single-vehicle collision in Bowmanville on Friday. Officers responded around 12:25 p.m. to the parking lot of 2340 Regional Highway 2, near a Montana's restaurant. It is alleged that a Chevrolet pickup truck was parked when a male approached the vehicle and initiated a fight.

The pickup truck attempted to leave the area, but the pedestrian held onto the driver's door handle and subsequently fell. He was transported to a local hospital and later to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
