Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder in 2023 Edmonton Killing

A 50-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a 2023 homicide in southwest Edmonton, police announced.

Details of the Incident

According to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), the charge stems from an incident on October 11, 2023. Officers responded around 10 a.m. to a weapons complaint at an apartment building near 106 Street and 80 Avenue.

Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical services (EMS) attended, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim Identification

The victim was later identified by the Edmonton Medical Examiner as Jordan McDonald, 33. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound, and the case was classified as a homicide.

Arrest and Charges

On April 25, 2026, police arrested Sean Broadley, 50, and charged him with second-degree murder. Investigators stated that the victim and the accused were not known to each other.
