Megyn Kelly Demands Accountability for Trump's Iran War Advisors
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly has launched a scathing critique against several high-profile conservative figures, accusing them of being instrumental in convincing President Donald Trump to engage in the war with Iran. During a recent episode of her podcast, Kelly insisted that those who advocated for the conflict must be held responsible as the situation deteriorates.
Calling Out Key Influencers
"Stop with that 'it's President Trump's decision.' I'm aware, but someone talked him into it, and those people should be held to account," Kelly declared emphatically. "As this thing goes south, we need to know exactly who talked him into it, and what representations were made to convince the president that this was a good idea. Who? Who, specifically?"
Kelly is among a small group of conservative voices, including Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, who have publicly opposed Trump's military actions in Iran. This stance contrasts sharply with broader Republican sentiment, as an NBC News poll from earlier this month indicated that 90% of MAGA-aligned Republican voters support the war, while a majority of overall voters oppose it.
Identifying the Advocates
In her detailed accusations, Kelly pointed directly at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then-Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), asserting that both were "equally to blame" for persuading Trump to proceed with the war. She further cited a Wall Street Journal report that highlighted Fox News commentator Marc Thiessen and General Jack Keane as major proponents of the conflict.
"OK, like those guys, but they appear to have been very wrong that this was a good idea, and we could keep going," Kelly remarked, underscoring her belief that their advocacy was misguided.
Expanding the List of Critics
Kelly did not stop there; she also named Fox News host Mark Levin, claiming, "We know he pushed him for this." However, Levin has disputed this on his radio show, stating that he "never lobbied the president." Additionally, conservative podcaster Ben Shapiro was implicated, with Kelly alleging he was "out on his show every day pushing this war."
"Like, there were very prominent activists on the right who were practically frothing at the mouth for this thing," Kelly observed. "And now that it's not only going poorly, but the president's poll numbers are in a precipitous freefall, we'd love to see some accountability. Who? Who promised him what?"
Her comments highlight a growing rift within conservative circles over the Iran conflict, as Kelly seeks to expose what she views as irresponsible influence on presidential decision-making during a critical international crisis.
