Ottawa police are continuing their search for suspects following a stabbing incident at Mooney's Bay Park on Saturday evening, May 30, 2026, which left an adult man in critical condition and a teenage girl hospitalized. As of now, no arrests have been made.
Incident Details
Police responded to the park at approximately 8:53 p.m. after receiving reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, officers found two injured victims. Ottawa paramedics reported that an adult male suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition. Police officers provided initial treatment at the scene and continued stabilizing the victim during transport. A female teenager was also taken to hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to paramedics.
Witness Accounts
Social media videos captured crowds fleeing the area as emergency crews arrived, with footage showing first responders wheeling a patient on a stretcher out of the park. Elizabeth Elton, a local resident who was at Mooney's Bay shortly before the stabbing, described seeing several hundred young people gathered between the beach and playground. She noted that the crowd seemed peaceful and that police were already present in the area before the incident.
Police Investigation
Police maintained a significant presence at Mooney's Bay on Sunday as investigators searched the area for evidence. The park was cordoned off, leading to the cancellation of the 2026 Ottawa MS Walk, which had been scheduled for Sunday at the nearby Terry Fox Athletic Facility. MS Canada spokesperson Braden Sykora stated that organizers arrived to find a large police presence and the area inaccessible, prompting the decision to cancel the event. The organization expressed gratitude for community support and looks forward to hosting the walk in 2027.
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
