Ontario's police watchdog is investigating a collision in Etobicoke that sent a 19-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a Toronto police officer to hospital.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of April 28, 2026, in the area of Kipling Avenue and The Westway. According to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), a Toronto police officer was involved in a crash with another vehicle. The officer and two occupants of the other vehicle—a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old—were taken to hospital with injuries. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The SIU has invoked its mandate and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. The agency has assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to the case. The SIU is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
