President Donald Trump swooned over the physique of Pro Football Hall of Fame member Joe Thomas at an agricultural roundtable in Wisconsin on Friday. “Look at this guy over here. I don’t know who the hell he is, but he is one hell of a specimen. This guy, this is one hell of a physical specimen,” Trump quipped, sitting next to the former NFL player.
Event at Custer Farms
The event at Custer Farms in Chippewa Falls came amid agricultural challenges faced by farmers and ranchers during the second Trump administration, including spiking fertilizer costs caused by the war in Iran. During the roundtable, Trump made a few out-of-the-ordinary comments about both Thomas and gold medal Olympic speed skating champion Jordan Stolz.
“I thought I was big until I met you, Joe, you know,” he told Thomas. “Fantastic, that’s what I like.” He later added, “Look at the size of this guy! Boy oh boy.” The president asked Thomas whether “anybody” got by him on the field, before exclaiming, “He’s a good-looking man!”
Comments on Stolz
Trump also joked about Stolz, “I forgot to touch his leg. I didn’t want to do that. But I can tell you one thing: His leg is like a rock.”
Thomas's Reaction
Thomas celebrated the roundtable on X, telling followers it was “great” meeting the president and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins “in God’s country” and “having an opportunity to highlight some of the major issues that need addressing for family farmers and BEEF producers in this country!”
Online Backlash
However, some of the athlete’s fans, as well as other users online, were disappointed at him for meeting with the president in the first place. “Trump’s policies have directly hurt farmers. What exactly are you celebrating?,” one user replied. “Do you have any idea the damage Trump has done to American farmers? Wtf is wrong with you? Jfc,” another user wrote.
