Northern Ontario police have arrested two individuals for impaired driving-related charges within a single hour, authorities reported. The arrests occurred as part of ongoing enforcement efforts to combat impaired driving in the region.
Details of the Arrests
The first arrest took place shortly after 10 p.m. on May 26, when officers stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Sudbury, was found to have a blood alcohol concentration nearly three times the legal limit. He faces charges of impaired operation and over 80 mg.
Less than an hour later, police arrested a 28-year-old woman from North Bay after she was involved in a minor collision. Officers detected alcohol on her breath, and subsequent testing revealed she was over the legal limit. She has been charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Ongoing Enforcement
Police emphasize that impaired driving remains a serious concern in Northern Ontario. They urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers and to plan ahead for safe transportation when consuming alcohol or drugs.
The two individuals are scheduled to appear in court in June. Their names have not been released pending formal charges.
