York Regional Police have issued an arrest warrant for Gerard Murray, a 48-year-old man from Windsor, in connection with a double homicide that occurred in Vaughan, north of Toronto. Murray is wanted on two counts of first-degree murder.
Details of the Incident
Police responded to reports of gunfire outside a residence in the area of Kaiser Drive and Forest Drive at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 13. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men outside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, police received reports of an abandoned blue SUV that had been set on fire in the vicinity of Huntington Road and Kirby Road. Investigators determined that the vehicle was used by the suspects both before and after the shooting. The SUV had been reported stolen from Toronto.
Suspects and Charges
Investigative efforts led to the identification of three men believed to have been occupants of the same SUV. On May 28, authorities executed a search warrant at a Toronto home, where they seized a loaded firearm and materials believed to be used in the making of explosives, including a detonator, pipe, and bolts.
Concurrent searches in Windsor and Hamilton resulted in the recovery of three additional firearms and an extended magazine, according to police.
Two other individuals have been charged in connection with the incident. Michele Moscone, 27, of Toronto, faces two counts of first-degree murder, arson causing property damage, and several firearms- and explosives-related offenses. Glen Mousseau, 55, of Windsor, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, arson causing property damage, and multiple firearms offenses.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators continue to search for Gerard Murray, who is believed to frequent southwestern Ontario, particularly between Windsor and the Greater Toronto Area. The investigation remains active.
