Windsor police have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run collision that occurred on June 23, 2026. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot after a two-vehicle crash but was found by officers hiding behind a residence a short distance away.
Collision on Wyandotte Street East
The incident took place just after 9 p.m. on the city's east side, in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Marentette Avenue. According to police, a vehicle traveling eastbound on Wyandotte attempted to turn northbound onto Marentette and collided with another vehicle.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash. However, one driver fled the scene before police arrived. Officers located the suspect behind a home in the 700 block of Wyandotte Street East and returned him to the collision site.
Charges and Penalties
Police determined that the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and without a valid driver's licence. The 23-year-old man now faces several charges, including failure to remain at the scene of a collision, careless driving, driving while under suspension, and failure to properly wear a seat belt.
His vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the incident.
