Woman Accused of Theft and Assaulting Regina Officer
A woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing from a store and then assaulting a Regina police officer during her arrest. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Regina Police Service.
Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store in the 4000 block of Albert Street. When officers arrived, they located the suspect, who became combative during the arrest. The suspect allegedly struck an officer, causing minor injuries. The officer was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
The 34-year-old woman is charged with theft under $5,000, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting arrest. She was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
