A young man was killed in a Montreal park late Tuesday night, marking the city's latest homicide as police continue their investigation.
Details of the Incident
Montreal police (SPVM) received a call around 11 p.m. Tuesday reporting a shooting in a park in the city's Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. No suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police Investigation
SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said that officers are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. A perimeter was established overnight as forensic investigators collected evidence.
This is Montreal's 15th homicide of 2026, according to police statistics. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
