Peel Regional Police have charged a Markham man with child sexual offences after he allegedly posed as a teenage boy online to lure and sexually extort minors. The accused, 27-year-old Sugin Mohanathas, faces multiple charges including luring a child, extortion, and possession of child pornography.
Investigation Details
Police say the investigation began after a victim reported being contacted by someone on social media who pretended to be a young male. The suspect allegedly gained the victim's trust, then threatened to share explicit images unless the victim complied with demands. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.

Mohanathas was arrested on June 9 and appeared in court the following day. He has been released on conditions, including no internet access and no contact with minors.
Police Appeal
Detective Constable Sarah Johnson of the Peel Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit stated: "We believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. We urge anyone who has been contacted by this individual or has information to contact police."
