Police Launch Investigation After Grim Discovery in Abandoned Vehicle
Regina Police Service (RPS) officers made a grim discovery in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026, finding a human body inside a vehicle whose occupants had fled the scene. The death is being treated as suspicious, prompting a major investigation.
Traffic Stop Evasion Leads to Discovery
The incident began shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday, when police attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of Saskatchewan Drive and Albert Street. The vehicle did not stop and temporarily evaded the officers. However, the RPS Aerial Support Unit located the car a short time later in the 1400 block of Princess Street.
Upon arrival, ground officers found the vehicle unoccupied. All occupants had exited and fled the scene. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed the body of a deceased person inside.
Death Deemed Suspicious, Investigation Expands
Following the initial discovery, the investigation led police to a residence on the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue. The RPS, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, has now initiated a death investigation encompassing both the Princess Street and Dewdney Avenue locations.
The police have officially classified the death as "suspicious." Authorities are withholding the victim's name and have declined to provide further details about the deceased, including gender or age, stating that such information cannot be released at this time.
The case has been escalated, with the Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit now assisting in the investigation.
