Calgary Man Charged After Alleged Tire Slashing, Death Threats to Okotoks Family
Calgary man charged in Okotoks tire slashing, threats case

RCMP have charged a Calgary man following a disturbing investigation into a campaign of alleged tire slashing, online harassment, and death threats targeting a family in Okotoks.

Months of Intimidation and Property Damage

According to Okotoks RCMP, the ordeal for the family began in the Crystal Shores neighbourhood in August 2025. Police reported that a vehicle's tires were slashed, an act that was repeated in the following months. In total, four different vehicles belonging to the family were vandalized.

The property damage was accompanied by a relentless stream of intimidation. "The alleged suspect continued to intimidate, taunt, and harass the family through various social media outlets with the use of false accounts," stated RCMP in a news release issued on Monday, January 19, 2026. The threats escalated to include death threats on several occasions, with the family reportedly receiving threats since February 16, 2025.

Joint Investigation Leads to Arrest

The investigation involved obtaining court orders to uncover the identity behind the social media accounts used in the harassment. This led police to identify a suspect residing in Calgary.

The case expanded in December 2025 when the Calgary Police Service initiated a parallel investigation. A separate victim had also received death threats through the same social media accounts and was subjected to online harassment.

On January 14, 2026, police arrested Imran Yusuf, a 27-year-old Calgary resident. He now faces a significant number of charges, including:

  • Four counts of threats to cause injury or death
  • Four counts of criminal harassment
  • One count of threats to cause harm to an animal
  • One count of mischief over $5,000
  • One count of use a disguise with intent
  • One count of besetting on a dwelling home

Court Proceedings Begin

Yusuf is currently being held in custody. His legal proceedings are underway, with a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary.

The charges highlight the serious nature of combining physical property crime with persistent digital threats and harassment, a pattern that law enforcement treated with utmost priority.
