Calgary police seize 60kg of drugs at airport

The Calgary Police Service has successfully intercepted a significant drug shipment and charged two individuals following a coordinated operation at Calgary International Airport.

Major Drug Interception at Airport Security

On Friday, November 14, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority made a crucial discovery during routine X-ray screening of checked luggage. Security officers identified suspicious contents within four separate bags and immediately contacted Calgary police for assistance.

Upon further inspection, authorities found multiple vacuum-sealed packages wrapped in plastic within the luggage. Subsequent testing by law enforcement confirmed the substance was cannabis resin, commonly known as hashish, with a total weight of 60 kilograms.

Investigation Leads to Suspects

Working closely with airport staff, Calgary police investigators identified the luggage's intended destination and meticulously reviewed CCTV footage to locate the individuals responsible.

The investigation led police to two suspects: 27-year-old Kody Carl Klimove and 34-year-old Corey Daniel Airhart. Both men were apprehended without incident as they attempted to board a flight to Vancouver.

Police believe the suspects planned to travel ultimately to Sri Lanka through connecting flights, using Vancouver as their initial departure point.

Charges and Estimated Value

The seized drugs hold an estimated street value of $1.2 million, representing a significant blow to drug distribution networks.

Both Klimove and Airhart face serious charges including possession for the purpose of distribution and possession with the intent to export. The men are scheduled to make their first court appearance on January 14, 2026.

Calgary police are continuing their investigation and encourage anyone with additional information to contact them directly or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
