Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a string of break-ins that targeted remote trailers in the Algoma region, resulting in the theft of firearms, a boat, and numerous tools.
Crime Spree in a Remote Wilderness
The incidents occurred in the isolated areas around Peshu Lake and Aubrey Falls, located north of Thessalon. This remote location is popular for its outdoor recreational opportunities, but its seclusion also made it a target for thieves. Police were alerted to the break-ins and have confirmed that multiple trailers were entered.
Stolen Property Includes Firearms
Among the items reported stolen are several guns, a boat, and a significant quantity of tools. The theft of firearms is a primary concern for authorities, prompting a serious investigation. The OPP, in conjunction with Crime Stoppers, is now actively seeking information from the public to help identify the suspects and recover the stolen property.
Appeal for Public Assistance
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the Peshu Lake or Aubrey Falls area recently and may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward. They are also urging residents and visitors in remote areas to review their security measures. The OPP has released the information as of November 16, 2025, and the investigation remains ongoing.
