The fatal incident occurred at 2:50 p.m. on March 14, when a witness observed a white or grey dirty pickup truck pull up beside a 2012 Honda Civic near Township Road 490. Moments later, the pickup truck sped away, and the Civic pulled over to the side of the road. Police later arrived at the scene to discover that the driver, Birinder Singh, had been shot and killed. Reports indicate that Singh was traveling with childhood friends to Banff for the weekend when the shooting took place, adding a layer of tragedy to the event.
