Major drug bust in Stony Plain leads to charges

A targeted drug trafficking investigation in the town of Stony Plain has culminated in a significant seizure of narcotics and the arrest of a local woman, Alberta RCMP announced.

Search Warrant Executed on Stony Plain Residence

On December 11, 2025, members of the RCMP Community Response Team, assisted by Parkland RCMP and the Parkland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of 52 Avenue and 49 Street in Stony Plain. During the operation, a 43-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene.

Significant Quantity of Drugs and Cash Seized

Investigators reported confiscating a wide array of controlled substances from the property. The seized items included:

  • Methamphetamine
  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Hydromorphone pills
  • LSD
  • Psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
  • GHB

In addition to the drugs, police recovered nearly $14,800 in cash, an imitation firearm, and a baton. Two other men present at the home were also arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants.

Suspect Charged and Released Pending Court

The suspect has been identified as Amanda Macdonald, 43. She is now facing multiple criminal charges, which include:

  • Trafficking a controlled substance
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Following a judicial hearing, Macdonald was released by a justice of the peace. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on the charges in St. Albert provincial court on Wednesday.
