A 31-year-old man from Delta is facing a serious charge following a violent incident inside a popular Yaletown nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.

Early Morning Violence in Entertainment District

Vancouver police were called to a nightclub located near the intersection of Nelson and Hamilton streets at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, after receiving reports of an assault in progress.

According to Constable Darren Wong, a spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department, the situation unfolded rapidly. Witnesses at the scene reportedly intervened to stop the alleged assault and provided crucial first aid to the injured man before emergency responders could arrive.

Suspect Arrested, Victim Hospitalized

Officers quickly located and arrested a suspect outside the nightclub. The individual taken into custody is identified as Paramveer Singh Jhooti, 31, of Delta, B.C. He remains in police custody.

The victim, a man whose face was slashed in the altercation, was treated for his injuries. Police have confirmed the wounds were serious but not life-threatening.

Formal Charge Laid

The Vancouver Police Department has now formally charged Jhooti with one count of aggravated assault in connection with the nightclub incident. The case highlights ongoing concerns about violence in the city's downtown entertainment districts.
