Windsor Man on Probation Faces Assault, Drug, and Weapons Charges After Arrest
A Windsor man, who was already on probation, has been arrested and is now facing a slew of serious charges including assault, drug trafficking, and weapons offenses. The arrest followed a physical altercation that occurred on February 10, prompting a police search that allegedly uncovered a loaded stolen handgun and a significant quantity of illegal drugs.
Police Search Leads to Discovery of Firearm and Drugs
Windsor police were actively searching for the 43-year-old suspect who was wanted on charges of assault, assault with a weapon, and theft. The following day, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police-led repeat offender parole enforcement unit located the man in the 1800 block of Cabana Road.
During the subsequent search, authorities seized a loaded Iver Johnson .32 caliber revolver with ammunition, along with 21.1 grams of cocaine, 6.8 grams of fentanyl, 222 hydromorphone tablets, and 221 clonazepam tablets. Additionally, police confiscated four digital scales and $275 in cash. The exact location of the search was not disclosed by law enforcement.
Multiple Charges Filed Against the Suspect
The suspect now faces a comprehensive list of charges, including four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of breach of a firearms prohibition order, and two counts of breach of probation. Further charges include carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license or registration certificate, and unsafe transportation of a firearm.
