According to police reports, the elderly victim was out for a walk in the 1200-block of Dan Lee Avenue when she was approached by a stranger. The suspect, described as a heavy-set man, forcefully ripped jewelry from the woman before shoving her to the ground. The attack occurred around 1:45 p.m. on February 15, with a Good Samaritan witnessing the aftermath and immediately calling 911 to assist the distressed victim.

New Westminster police are actively working to identify the perpetrator through security footage obtained from the area. Sergeant Andrew Leaver expressed deep concern after reviewing the CCTV recordings, stating, "Watching the CCTV footage was deeply disturbing. A grown man used his strength and size against a 90-year-old woman. That is disgraceful and cowardly behaviour."
The suspect is described as approximately 5-foot-11 and 260 pounds. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a beige hoodie, grey pants, black shoes with white soles, and a surgical mask.
