Police Launch Manhunt for Counterfeit Suspects
Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Trail, British Columbia, have initiated a search for two individuals accused of circulating counterfeit bills throughout the Interior region this week. The investigation centers on multiple incidents where forged currency was allegedly used at local businesses.
Trail and Greater District RCMP released surveillance photographs on November 14, 2025, showing the two persons of interest. Police spokesperson Corporal James Wilson confirmed the images were captured during the suspected counterfeit transactions. The incidents occurred during the week of November 10-14, 2025, though specific locations and the exact amount of counterfeit money involved remain undisclosed.
Surveillance Images Released to Public
Investigators have made the surveillance footage publicly available in hopes that community members can help identify the suspects. The clear images show one male and one female suspect who appear to be working together.
The RCMP emphasized that using counterfeit money is a serious criminal offense that damages local businesses and undermines economic stability. Small business owners in the Trail area have expressed concern about the circulation of fake bills, with several reporting losses from recent transactions.
Counterfeit Prevention Measures
Local authorities are advising business owners and employees to remain vigilant when handling cash transactions. Police recommend familiarizing themselves with security features on Canadian currency, including raised ink, holographic stripes, and transparent windows.
Financial crimes unit investigators are working to determine the source of the counterfeit bills and whether they're connected to broader forgery operations in the region. Anyone with information about the suspects or the counterfeit incidents is urged to contact Trail RCMP immediately or remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation continues as police follow multiple leads in what appears to be an organized effort to distribute fake currency throughout British Columbia's Interior communities.
