According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday at Rosebank Park, located near Progress Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough. Police state that a man approached a child who was playing in the park and initiated a conversation. The suspect then reportedly took the child by the hand and attempted to walk off with them, but ultimately left the park alone on foot without the child.
The suspect is described as a brown-skinned male in his 20s, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 with a thin build. He was clean-shaven with short black hair and was seen wearing a distinctive black sweater featuring a yellow smiley face on the front, along with dark pants.

A 15-year-old from Oshawa is facing several charges after allegedly threatening someone with a knife and stealing a cellphone. The incident occurred on March 23 in the area of Rossland Road East and Harmony Road North in Oshawa, where the victim had arranged to sell a phone through Facebook Marketplace. During the meeting, one suspect took the phone and fled, while another suspect confronted the victim with a knife. The investigation revealed connections to three additional similar robberies.
The youth faces charges including theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and trafficking in property obtained by crime. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused cannot be named publicly.
Warrant Issued for Counterfeit Money Suspect
Durham Police have issued a warrant for 24-year-old Aaliyah Kamiria Abdalla of Oshawa, who is accused of using counterfeit money at multiple Walmart locations. Police allege that on December 14 last year, Abdalla used four fake $100 bills at a Bowmanville Walmart and additional counterfeit bills at an Oshawa Walmart. She then reportedly returned items purchased with the fake money at an Ajax Walmart to obtain a refund with legitimate currency.
Abdalla is wanted for fraud under $5,000, uttering counterfeit currency, and possession of property obtained by crime. Authorities are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the Financial Crimes Unit.
Arrests Following Basketball Game Incident
Police have made arrests after an alleged robbery and assault involving an imitation firearm at a high school basketball game held at the Durham College Athletic Complex. The incident followed an earlier robbery on March 2, where two suspects allegedly robbed a victim of shoes during a meeting arranged for sale near Cedar and Porter Streets in Oshawa.
Khalil Adams, 19, of Ajax, and a 17-year-old from Pickering face multiple charges including robbery, weapon offenses, and breach-related counts. Both individuals were held for bail hearings following their surrender to police in March.
Drug Bust at Pickering Restaurant
In a separate case, a 25-year-old Pickering man faces drug charges after Durham Police found fentanyl, scales, cellphones, and drug paraphernalia during a search at a McDonald's on Kingston Road. Police responded to a call about an armed man at the location and discovered the suspect, who was under firearms prohibition from previous offenses.
Jayden James Vince-Anthony has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
