RCMP Officer Struck by Vehicle on Ottawa Parkway
An RCMP officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Thursday evening while investigating a previous collision in Ottawa's east end. The officer was reported to be in stable condition following the incident.
Details of the Ottawa Parkway Incident
The collision occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway. The officer was conducting an investigation into an earlier collision on the parkway when he was hit by another vehicle.
An Ottawa Police Service officer who was present at the scene immediately provided first aid to the injured RCMP member. Ottawa paramedics, who had been in the area dealing with the initial collision that resulted in minor injuries, were called back to the scene to attend to the RCMP officer.
Investigation and Road Closures
The Ottawa Police Service has confirmed it will take the lead on investigating the collision involving the RCMP officer. In a news release, the OPS also stated that the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway would remain closed north of St-Joseph Boulevard while the investigation continues.
