Second Suspect Named in Georgetown Shooting Investigation
Halton Regional Police have identified a second suspect in connection with a shooting incident in Georgetown that left a woman with serious injuries earlier this month. The development comes as investigators continue their probe into the targeted attack that occurred in the Halton Hills community.
Details of the Shooting Incident
According to police reports, officers responded to a residence in the area of John and Victoria Streets around 3:45 p.m. on January 8, 2026, following reports of a shooting. The victim, a woman who was known to the initial suspect, was transported to hospital with what authorities described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was reported to be in stable condition following medical treatment.
Initial Arrest and New Developments
One day after the shooting, police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Emma MacLean of Georgetown. She faces multiple charges including:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Discharging a firearm with intent
- Assault with a weapon
- Failing to comply with a probation order
On Friday, investigators revealed they had identified a second suspect allegedly connected to the incident. Police are now seeking 41-year-old James Chadrey (Chad) Hume, who faces identical charges to those brought against MacLean.
Public Safety Warning
Halton Regional Police have issued a public safety warning regarding the newly identified suspect. Authorities consider Hume to be armed and dangerous and advise the public not to approach him if spotted. Police believe he frequents the Halton Hills area and is likely in the Georgetown vicinity.
Investigators have released a photograph of Hume to aid in his apprehension. The police emphasize that this appears to have been a targeted incident rather than a random act of violence.
Ongoing Investigation
The Major Crime Bureau continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police are urging anyone with information about Hume's whereabouts or details about the incident to come forward.
