Taber Man Faces Multiple Charges in Disturbing Lethbridge Hotel Assault Case

A 22-year-old Taber man has been formally charged with sexual assault and related offenses following a deeply concerning incident involving a 12-year-old girl that occurred in a Lethbridge hotel room last April. The case has raised serious questions about youth safety and social media interactions.

Police Discovery During Property Recovery Call

On April 25, 2025, Lethbridge police officers responded to what initially appeared to be a routine property recovery request at a southside hotel. What they discovered upon arrival was far more alarming: a 21-year-old male in a hotel room with six teenagers, including one boy and five girls ranging in age from 12 to 14 years old.

The male initially presented himself as a teenager to the responding officers, but police investigation quickly revealed his true age and the disturbing circumstances surrounding the gathering.

Social Media Connection and Alcohol Involvement

According to Lethbridge police officials, their subsequent investigation determined that the accused had connected with the teenagers through social media platforms. After driving the youths around, the man allegedly brought them to the hotel room where he provided them with alcohol.

It was during this hotel gathering that a 12-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted, prompting the serious charges now facing the accused.

International Flight and Arrest at Vancouver Airport

Following the initial investigation, police made numerous attempts to contact the suspect, only to discover he had left the country entirely. Authorities subsequently issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

The breakthrough came on Monday when Lethbridge police learned the man had returned to Canada. He was promptly arrested at Vancouver International Airport by authorities who had been monitoring his movements.

Multiple Serious Charges Filed

The accused, identified as 22-year-old Yuvraaz Singh of Taber, now faces a series of serious criminal charges including:

  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference
  • Inviting sexual touching
  • Obstructing a peace officer

Singh is currently being held in custody in British Columbia and will be transported back to Alberta to face these charges in court. The case highlights ongoing concerns about youth vulnerability in social media environments and the importance of parental awareness regarding their children's online interactions.

Lethbridge police have emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigating crimes against children and ensuring that those who exploit young people face appropriate legal consequences. The investigation remains active as authorities work to understand the full scope of the circumstances surrounding this troubling incident.
