Early-Morning Shooting Linked to Extortion Series
The Abbotsford Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred in the early hours of the morning, which they have confirmed is a targeted incident connected to an ongoing extortion investigation.
Officers were dispatched to the 2500-block of Janzen Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the residential area.
Vehicles Struck, Occupants Unharmed
Upon arrival, police discovered two unoccupied vehicles parked in a driveway that had been struck by gunfire. All occupants inside the home were asleep at the time and were not physically harmed, according to Sgt. Paul Walker, a spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police.
This event is part of a concerning string of extortion-related shootings that authorities are working to resolve.
Police Seek Public Assistance
Investigators are now appealing to the public for help. They are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of Janzen Street or the surrounding area between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m. to come forward.
