Toronto Man Faces Charges for Alleged Death Threats Against Downtown Protesters
A 55-year-old Toronto man has been arrested and charged after allegedly making death threats against protesters in the downtown area on Friday, according to Toronto Police. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. in the Yonge-Bloor Streets area, where demonstrators were gathered for a protest.
Details of the Threatening Incident
Police reported that the accused, identified as Seyed Majid Reza Zahadi, approached the protesters and repeatedly yelled at them, threatening to kill them. Officers arrived at the scene, but the accused allegedly continued to make threats even after their arrival. Zahadi was subsequently arrested and charged with uttering threats. The charges were officially announced on Sunday.
In a related development, two other individuals were arrested at a separate downtown protest on Sunday around 4:30 p.m. in the University Avenue and Armoury Street area. Separate Rexdale Incident: Pedestrian Critically Injured
In an unrelated event, a pedestrian was critically injured in Rexdale on Saturday night. Toronto Police responded to a personal injury collision at about 9:30 p.m. in the Islington Avenue and Albion Road area. According to authorities, a 58-year-old pedestrian was walking on the south sidewalk of Albion Road when a red Toyota Corolla, traveling westbound, crossed into the eastbound lanes, mounted the sidewalk, and struck the pedestrian.
The vehicle then continued through a parking lot, hitting a fence and two parked cars before the driver allegedly fled the scene on foot. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized, while two passengers in the Corolla received minor injuries.
Arrest and Charges in Rexdale Case
On Sunday, 40-year-old Suraju Ishau surrendered to police and was charged with two counts each of dangerous operation causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily harm. The Brampton man now faces serious legal consequences following the incident.
