Vancouver police have identified the victim of the city's third homicide of 2026 as 36-year-old Matthew MacFarlane. Officers responded to a stabbing near the intersection of East Hastings Street and Dunlevy Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

MacFarlane was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, according to a statement from the Vancouver Police Department. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
