Suspect Apprehended Following Police Pursuit in East Windsor
Windsor police have successfully apprehended a 45-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation after he allegedly fled from officers during an attempted traffic stop earlier this month.
License Plate Recognition System Leads to Discovery
According to police reports, the incident began on November 3 around 4 p.m. when officers were conducting routine patrols in the area of Jefferson Boulevard. The Windsor Police Service's automatic licence plate recognition system alerted them to a vehicle registered to an individual wanted for theft under $5,000.
When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver reportedly accelerated away before police could approach the vehicle, initiating a pursuit that would span several days.
Early Morning Arrest on Etienne Boulevard
The investigation culminated in the suspect's arrest on Monday around 3 a.m. after Windsor police located him at a business establishment in the 2700 block of Etienne Boulevard.
The 45-year-old suspect now faces multiple criminal charges including:
- Theft under $5,000
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from a peace officer
