Pedestrian, 69, Dies in Collision on Howard Avenue

Windsor police report that a 69-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle on Howard Avenue on Saturday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of Howard Avenue and Charles Street at approximately 5 a.m. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive man lying in the street.

Investigation Details

Investigators believe the man was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on Howard Avenue. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Howard Avenue between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East was closed in both directions for several hours as the Windsor Police Service traffic reconstruction unit conducted their investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing. Recent Pedestrian Fatalities

This incident marks the second pedestrian death in Windsor in recent weeks. On April 15, a 65-year-old woman was struck and killed in the 1600 block of Tecumseh Road East, east of Lincoln Road in South Walkerville. She was crossing the street mid-block when she was hit by an eastbound vehicle. The force of the initial impact threw her into the opposing lane, where she was struck by a second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle remained at the scene, but the second driver fled and has not been identified. Investigators continue to seek information to identify the second driver.
